Terrifying CDC Vital Signs - U.S. States Info: Adult Obesity - large

I’d be fascinated to see how this has evolved over the last 100 years.

“So where are you today”?
Basically every call I’ve answered over the last four years has started with that question. Am I in Salt Lake City, San Francisco or somewhere in between. For those in the know, my life over that period has been a blur of hotels, absurd accumulation of frequent flyer miles and an embarrassing collection of airport mayorships on Foursquare. Weekly flights have become a constant for me and the time away from my family has been a sacrifice we’ve made to get OATV up and off the ground. That’s about to change.
When Tim, Mark and I started OATV back in 2005 my family consisted of 2 young daughters and a new baby boy. The travel required for building our firm was a small trade off for planting our roots in the foothills of the Wasatch mountains. Since 2005 we’ve added another daughter to the mix and are on the cusp of adding one more.
At the same time, OATV has grown from a fledgling firm, to a established player in the emerging seed stage category. I’m really proud of what we’re building, but the tension for time in the bay area and my time in SLC has been coming to a crescendo. And, with a new baby on the way we’ve decided to merge the two lives we’ve been living for the last few years into one- the Roberts are moving.
There are so many dimensions to this decision many of which are simply too personal to trot out here. To say it was easy would be a huge simplification. We love Salt Lake City. Its a very real part of who we are as a family. Our friends and family there combined with the backdrop of some of the most beautiful mountains in the world have made it a very easy place to call home for the last fifteen years. But easy isn’t always the right path.

So, over the next few weeks we’ll be pulling up stakes in SLC and moving to our newly acquired compound in the foothills surrounding the bay area where we’ll continue to raise our super strain of children. We’re looking forward to an entirely new set of experiences to build our lives around. And, I’m personally looking forward to being able to answer the question “so, where are you today?” with a simple response- home.
