My top 5 favorite company workspaces
Though flattered by Bijan’s nod for having some pretty cool digs, this post really reminded me of a thought I had after he left my office last week.
During our visit we spoke freely, having a very intimate understanding of the developments in each others lives and careers. We talked about our companies, new deals we’re each working on, the woes of being the sole Mac users in our given offices and generally enjoying catching up with each other. The kicker: I hadn’t actually seen Bijan in nearly 9 months. So how did we each know so much about what the other had been up to? We follow each other on Twitter and Tumblr.
I’ve caught grief from a few friends recently who’ve labeled me an “I’m eating lunch” type Twitter user. By which they mean I update more on what’s going on in my personal life than creating broadly consumable content. I take that jab in stride, largely because both Twitter and Tumblr for me are far more about context than content. They’re windows into what’s going on in the lives and minds of people I care about. I can find content all over the web, but context for me is much more powerful as a connective tissue for me and the people I consider my real social network.
So, thanks to Bijan for dropping by. It was great to see you again. I’m sure it won’t be another 9 months before we do it again. But even if it is, as we said in parting, “see you on Twitter and Tumblr”. Indeed, and our next face to face will be that much richer because of them both.
btw- if you want to see some pictures of our office, you can find a handful of them on Flickr.

Okay, I know this is a silly post.
I don’t believe there is any correlation between a cool looking, beautiful office and success but I thought it would be fun to give a shout out to my top 5 favorite company workspaces (disclaimer: I’m not including our office at spark)
1. O’Reilly AlphaTech Ventures. I stopped by to see Bryce last week in SF and went to see his office at One Lombard Street. It’s awesome. The views, high ceilings, funky art. Everything is awesome. The only critique - Bryce is the only Mac user at his firm but I won’t hold that against him. I’m on the only guy at my firm with a Mac (actually Todd and Dennis have them at home so that’s partial credit)
